The Book Biz

I recently went shopping at a huge bookstore chain that was having a close out sale. Even though I was so excited about the discount prices on books I'd been wanting to purchase, I also felt a little sad about the whole thing. And I couldn't help but think of some of those wistful scenes from a favorite movie, You've Got Mail. Except in this case, the "big bad bookstore chain" that sells cheap books and legal addictive stimulants is the one going under by the new world of electronic books.
Don't get me wrong, I love my I-Books App. The classics are free, I can read in the dark, look up words, highlight and copy quotes with just a tap of my finger along with many other cool features. I'm not going to give up I-Books, nor do I think this is "the end of civilization as we know it". But I still felt a little sentiment toward the good old fashioned book that you can hold in your hand, smell, flip through and loan out to friends. That's one of the fun parts: The whole book culture of loaning out and borrowing from friends.
I know this culture isn't completely outdated...but on that day, walking around this prominent bookstore, I felt a little tinge of that empty sadness about its closing. I was happy to buy three new books and I do enjoy reading them the old school way...and I only slightly miss the electronic features ;)

I Solemnly Swear

...that the last ten years, we've all been up to no good! And it's been a great ten years. Of Harry Potter☺ So what if I'm a little late in my HP thoughts? Like a month late. I just have to say that the last book was my favorite and so was this last film. Both for the same reasons:
I love the bravery everyone shows! It is phenomenal, actually. And inspiring. They knew what they stood for and fully committed to it. So they stepped up and fought with much courage, no matter the outcome. For me, that was a kick in the pants and wake up call.

10 years ago. Sentimental.

Walk Away

One year ago today, a miracle happened. 
I remember it being my happiest day of that year!
On that day, I got a job offer doing what I love, two states away where people that I love were.  That day was a new beginning for me. A week later, I walked away from a variety of situations that brought/kept me down.

I am thinking of that day today...
I don't think I'll ever forget it and will always be grateful.

There comes a time in life when you walk away from all the drama,
And people who create it.

You surround yourself with people who:
Make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good.

So, love the people who treat you right and forget the ones who don't.

Life is too short to be anything but happy.
